The passion behind the experience.
The Founder, Tea Expert & Baker- Megan Moden
My earliest memory of a tea party was when i was 4 years old. my mother used to make me “kid’s Tea”; warm milk, water and a little sugar. I would set up a tea party with my dolls, whom I considered my most Distinguished guests.
I was nine when I learned I could choose “Chef” as a career, and at fourteen I decided what Culinary School I would attend. I was fortunate enough to study in France, not only at Le Cordon Bleu, but throughout the countryside at a Relais and Chateaux. It was there that I fell in love with fine European baking and small-scale culinary artistry. I was also extremely lucky to work at a Farm to Table restaurant in England, where I became enamored with tea. The way it is an entire culture unto itself, and a pick-me-up on a sullen day. A way to comfort yourself and others, and a way to celebrate milestones in life, like an Engagement or a New Addition to your family.
I knew I wanted to pursue a life in Tea one day. So, when I moved to Chicago I was hired as a Tea Barista, made a Supervisor two months later and within 6 months was named a Training Manager for Argo Tea. It was there that my passion and knowledge of tea was refined. I learned the history, and the roots of tea- from the proper steeping temperatures and times, to the distinction between good tea and exquisite tea. And imparting that knowledge to all of our new hires throughout our 14 Tea Cafes.
Although I have worked in high end kitchens all over the world, this conviction deepened during my five years as a Chef at the exclusive Kiawah Island Club. My role there was dedicated to culinary excellence and creating custom small-bite menus for distinguished members and guests. During that time, I crafted over a thousand unique items, establishing an unparalleled standard for creativity and bespoke culinary development.
My life has been made whole here in Charleston, where I moved to be closer to my family and ultimately met and fell in love with my husband…. and the natural beauty of the Lowcountry. The softer way of life and the way there is always a reason to celebrate. I hope to do just that. Bring life, soft beauty and passion to your next celebration. To not just make it a party, but a memorable event that people will speak of for years to come. And maybe even foster in you, a love for tea that I have had myself for over 40 years.
I invite you to put your Pinky’s Up in celebration of YOU! And look forward to curating a custom experience that no one will be soon to forget. .
